STC competitions offer an excellent way for you and your team to get recognition for your technical publication, help system, artwork, training, or any other form of technical communication. Each year, the STC Carolina Chapter generally sponsors the following competitions:

• Online Communication Competition: This page describes the categories in which you can submit an online communication entry.
• Technical Publications Competition: This page describes the categories in which you can submit a technical publications entry.
• Technical Art Competition: This page describes the categories in which you can submit an art entry.

Carolina Chapter competitions are usually held in the fall. Entries that earn a Distinguished award from the Carolina chapter are automatically submitted to STC international competitions held in the spring.

We have tracked statistics on our chapter's competitions for many years. You can see how many entries there were for each year along with how many of each award level were given for that year. You can also see information about how our chapter fared in the international competition.

Spotlight News

The Carolina Competitions Committee is on a roll again for 2008-09. The committee is a well established group of people, who know how to get things done.

The STC Carolina Competitions is a nationally recognized excellent competition! Welcome these new and returning folks:

• Jennifer Raisig as Competitions Manager and the Online Communication Chairperson
• Betsy Kent as the Tech Pubs competition Chair!
• Heath Sides as the Tech Art Chairperson!
• Sheila Loring as the Judge Manager!

Carolina Continues to Host a Unique Competition Category!

Have you revised a book, an online project, or an art project so substantially that it amazes even you? Here's your chance to get feedback on the revision. Submit it as a Most Improved category in any of the three competitions. If you want to submit in this category, contact one of the competition managers for help completing the entry form. This is a local competition category only.

Competition Applications Are Online

We do not mail paper Call for Entries. All of our materials are on the Competitions Submitters' Corner.

We send Call for Entries emails to STC members and nonmembers during August. These emails direct you to this Competitions web site, where you can find the application forms.

Exchanging Entries with Another STC Chapter

This year we are not exchanging entries with another chapter.

Find Your Gavels, Judges!

During August and September we recruit judges for all "three!" competitions. We need about 60 judges for all three competitions. We need judges who are experienced in art design and development. This is where we need to ask you to ask your art and graphic design associates. Please mention this opportunity to any friends and colleagues who would enjoy the opportunity to exercise their critiquing skills while they see what other organizations are doing! Judges do not have to be STC members.
